Kateryna Zemskova, CEO and Co-Founder:
Kateryna is a New York City resident, has a backround in software development, business and real estate. With a degree in Computer Science from the University of Santa Cruz (California), she worked as a software engineer/application developer at several startups, and then joined Keller Williams and Spire Group,leading New York City real estate firms. Kateryna also co-founded a travel agency, specializing in trips to Nepal.
Just before the earthquake Kateryna was developing plans to build sustainable, socially-responsible hotels in Nepal, with her Kathmandu partners. She brings this experience, combined with her technical and business expertise, to her current non-profit work with Good Earth Nepal.
Nathan Belofsky, Co-founder:
Nathan is an attorney and author living in New York City. In addition to maintaining an active litigation practice, Nathan has written for major newspapers and media outlets and is the author of two non fiction books, the second of which is now published in four languages.
Nathan grew to love Nepal and its people during a life-changing trek through the Himalayas led by Kateryna and Baris, and since the devastating earthquake has devoted his time and efforts to rebuilding this great country.
Baris Tuncer, Co-Founder:
Baris of New York City, has an extensive experience working as a program manager and systems engineer for Texas Instruments. He holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Southern Methodist University and an MBA (emphasis on finance and accounting) from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Baris is also co-founder of an travel agency specializing in trips to Nepal, and in addition to his non-profit work for Good Earth Nepal conducts real estate transactions in the New York City area.
Dr. Owen Geiger, Technical Consultant and Method Ambassador:
Dr. Owen Geiger, considered to be the world’s leading expert in Earthbag building, is a licensed building contractor with a Ph.D. in Social and Economic Development. He is founder of the GeigerInstitute of Sustainable Building, a former Director of Builders Without Borders, and has worked closely with Habitat for Humanity, the United Nations Institute of Training and Research and the U.S.Military Academy at West Point.
Dr. Geiger has partnered with Good Earth Nepal in hosting several trainings and Earthbag building workshops. In May 2016, GEN hosted Dr. Geiger on a trans-Nepal tour and evaluation of current Earthbag building projects.
Roshan K. Jha, Managing Director:
Roshan K. Jha has extensive experience in the non-profit sector. He has earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Studies and a Master's Degree in Economics from Tribhuvan University in Nepal. Roshan has worked on maximizing employment opportunities for young adults in the environmental, alternative energy and sustainable agriculture sectors. Roshan has also worked as a Research Consultant for the United Nations International Labor Organization in Dhobighat, Lalitpur, and as a Program and Project Coordinator for the Forum of Economic Studies in Bagbazar, Kathmandu. Since the earthquake, Roshan has consulted with the Nepal Technical Office of Registered Engineers For Disaster Relief India (RedR India) and is now Managing Director of Good Earth Nepal.
C. Azab Titus Prabhu, Program Director, India:
Titus brings extensive non-profit experience to Good Earth Nepal’s India initiative. From 2008 to date Titus has fought to obtain legal protection for at-risk populations at the Centre For Advocacy And Research (CFAR), a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation-funded non-profit group. Previously Titus managed support programs for female sex workers at the Meenakshi Mission Hospital Project, also supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, worked in various disaster-relief capacities, and served as project coordinator for the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), providing medical and psychological support to people living with HIV/AIDS.
Titus has a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and a Masters of Philosophy in Sociology from Madurai Kamaraj University, and earned both a Master of Social Work in Medicine and Psychiatry and a P.G Diploma in Counseling, from the Madurai Institute of Social Sciences.
Ram Chandra Bharati, Civil Engineer:
Ram has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Tribhuvan University and previously worked as an engineer for the Nepal Reconstruction Authority. At the NRA he specialized in rebuilding earthquake-resistant rural houses, and was team leader of the Khijikati Rural Housing reconstruction program. Ram also worked for the Himalaya Hydro Construction Pvt. Ltd., where he was a site engineer at the Upper Hugdi Khola Hydroelectric Project.
Kristine Downing, Project Manager:
Kristine has a Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Studies and Russian Language from McGill University, Montreal. Kristine has spent time studying Buddhism and teaching yoga in Nepal. After experiencing the earthquake in 2015, she has volunteered with the Chokgyur Lingpa Foundation, an emergency relief organization based in Kathmandu.
Kristine is fluent in Danish and has lived and worked in Denmark, Canada, the US, and Nepal. Her skills include writing, editing, and communications and she continues to work with Good Earth Nepal from her current home in Massachusetts, USA when she is not working as a travel guide.
Tara Prasad Bartaula, Logistics Manager:
Tara received his Bachelor’s Degree in International Business Economics in Poland and then went on to receive a Master’s in Government and Development Policy from Centre Européen de Recherches Internationales et Stratégique in Belgium. He has received certificates and trained with Agriculture, Economics, and Business programs across Nepal, India, and the EU.
Tara’s experience includes managing Baba Gas Udyog and Bartaula Suppliers, both in Nepal. He has conducted research in Chosen Management Practices in Nepal Companies as well as Bio Gas Usage Impact in Kumroj Village Development.
Tara is fluent in English, Nepali, and Hindi and is adept in both French and Polish.
Dn Dhital, Construction Supervisor:
Dn is a resident of Bhaktapur, earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Studies from Tribhuvan University. Before joining Good Earth Nepal he worked as a program coordinator, manager and marketing executive, and also volunteered in various earthquake relief programs. Dn is fluent in Nepali, English and Hindi.
Ashim Dhungana, Civil Engineer:
Ashim has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Tribhuvan University. He has worked as Site-Engineer on the construction of multiple bridges across Udayapur District and on road construction projects near Pokhara. His skills include billing, estimating, site-surveying, and vast knowledge of software andprogramming languages. Ashim is fluent in Nepali, Hindi, and English.
